Penn Vet Students Treat Animals in Nepal

Three Penn Vet students are spending the summer in Nepal

Did You Know…

that three Penn Vet students are blogging about their summer experience of treating rural animals in Nepal and helping to train community members there in basic animal health and husbandry? The idea for the project began last year, when Alison Barnstable and Laurel Redding, two second-year Penn Vet students at the time, were awarded the Penn Vet Inspiration Award, a $100,000 grant from the Vernon and Shirley Hill Foundation, to initiate a collaboration between the vet school and the non-profit organization, Heifer International (www.heifer.org).

Working on cases that range from goat dippings to routine vaccinations and wound treatment, third-year students Laurel Redding, Lauren Aldinger and Yoon Chay have chronicled their experience in a blog called “Nourish Nepal” at http://nourishnepal.wordpress.com/about/.
